This week saw the release of trailers for three of the most anticipated movies of the year.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Verdict: I only read the first installment of The Hunger Games series and I thought the movie was a decent movie, given the demographic it was geared towards. Judging by this first teaser, the sequel may prove to be a better movie that the first. The movie looks dark and gritty, as Panem looks to be in the midst of revolution. I wasn’t waiting with baited breath for this film, but I’ll definitely be checking it out.
Star Trek: Into Darkness
Verdict: As this is the third trailer for the second JJ Abrams-led Star Trek film, the plot is starting to become more clear. We get to see more of Benedict Cumberbatch more than in the past two trailers, so I guess fans of the BBC‘s Sherlock nearly stroked out while watching this. Honestly, I really enjoyed the 2009 film, but I never bothered to watch it once I saw it once. I’ll be seeing this one as well, but I’ll be anticipating other movies more.
Man of Steel
Verdict: Now THIS is a film I can hardly wait for. Once again, this is the third trailer and the Nolan influence cannot be ignored. We get an extended look at Supe’s home planet of Krypton, in what appears to be some sort of battle. Rumblings have it that Krypton doesn’t get destroyed, so I’m interested to see how much truth to that rumor there is. Amy Adams looks like the perfect Lois Lane and Henry Cavill looks like he’ll be a fine Superman, even if he closer resembles Wolverine in some scenes. Either way, I’m digging this film and it’s easily my most anticipated film of the summer.
