With the holidays fast approaching, the one thing I always look forward to are the Christmas Specials. From the old classics like Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer to the new comers like Will Ferrell’s Elf these movies always bring a smile to my face. Arguably one of the biggest and most beloved classics would have to be Merry Christmas Charlie Brown. Everyone, old and young, absolutely loves the Peanuts gang, and just in time for next Christmas we are going to be treated to a fully CGI movie of the Snoopy and the rest of the crew.
Recently the teaser trailer for Peanuts surfaced and it highlighted Snoopy and his bird friend Woodstock teasing each other and Snoopy flying his dog house through Paris being chased after the Red Baron. For those of you who might not be familiar with what I’m talking about, Snoopy often day-dreamed that he was a fighter pilot and his dog house was his airplane, and he would always be after the Red Baron from the First World War. They even made a Christmas song out of it! The trailer ends with Charlie Brown making a fool of himself as usual by spilling popcorn all over himself in a movie theater filled with his “friends.”
I’m beginning to see a trend here from studios not named Pixar. They’re starting to resurrect old television shows from the 60’s and 70’s (Mr. Peabody & Sherman for example). So it would only make sense that these iconic characters get their own CGI movie. Although I was never a big fan of Peanuts I can see this movie exposing these lovable characters to a whole new generation of kids who will fall instantly in love with the ole block head and his companions. But not Lucy though, Lucy was a jerk.
What To Expect:
Charlie Brown will get made fun of unmercifully throughout the movie, kids will love it.
