PLOT: When he loses his slaughterhouse property to foreclosure, a butcher uses his feral, mentally stunted adult son to exact revenge on those he feels have wronged him.

gore 1

The gore is actually done pretty well in this one. It’s a little derivative, and some of the more inventive kills are done off camera, but for a low budget film, and one that borrows heavily from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, it’s not bad.  There’s a pretty inventive match-cut between someone getting their throat slashed and a tomato being sliced.  It’s not exactly 2001: A Space Odyssey, but for a movie like this, it’s a decent filmmaking moment.

scares

Not really. The film, whether intentional or otherwise, tends to straddle the line between horror and comedy, so it never really amps it up in terms of scares.

Overall

For a movie that borrows heavily from other films, it actually does a decent job of being a clever twist on everything. It’s kind of grimy, kind of like Buddy, the big dumb idiot manchild. The gleefully insane performance of Don Barrett as Mr. Bacon really stands out in a film that is a trashy time-waster. Overall, though, it’s ultimately forgettable.
